10 Ways To Survive Exams
Exam time is the most stressful time of the year. Here are some tips for getting through exams to do the best you can.
- Water
Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water, but no soft drinks. Hydrated brain can focus and learn much better. Not getting enough water will causes tiredness, headaches, and loss of concentration. - Sleep
Make sure you get enough sleep. You will make far fewer little mistakes if you are well rested. Sleep helps to store what you learned that day into your memory. Also, what you study right before you sleep will get engrained into your memory the most. - Practice
Don't just read the material, practice it. Most people learn by doing, so the more previous exams, and practice questions you do the more prepared you will be. - Cram
Studies have shown that some people can remember up to 60% - 90% of the information you read for the few days after you read it. But only for the first few days afterwards. After that you will quickly forget most of it. - Don't Cram EVERYTHING
In most cases it is impossible to learn all the material of a course, and remember it just from cramming. You need to be exposed to the information many times before it will go into your long term memory. Develop good, consistent study habits and your future exams will be a lot less stressful. - Study With Someone
Studying alone can drive you crazy with loneliness and boredom. Another person can help motivate you, and you can help each other. Teaching the material to a friend will help you learn it more deeply, and having someone there that might know the answer to your question can help you a lot when you get stuck. - Turn off your cell phone
And stay off of Facebook and Twitter. - Notewagon.com
https://www.notewagon.com/ Notewagon is an invaluable resource when exam time comes up. If you're missing notes or your notes aren't that great, then you can go on Notewagon and buy notes that other people in your class have uploaded. You can also practice exams, practice questions, course summaries, exam reviews, and cheat sheets. If your notes are already great you can always upload them to the site, and make some quick cash off your less prepared classmates! - Relax
Studies have shown that you will remember less of what you try to learn when you are stressed. You will also make more mistakes if you are worked up and nervous. Do what you need to do to calm down and relax. - Don't Give Up
Push yourself to keep going! You can never be over prepared for an exam. Do every problem you can get your hands on, read and re-read all the material until you know absolutely everything. Good luck.
